Welcome back to the parents' blog! Today your students and I had a good time working with a new emerging technology called Wordle. Wordle is a free and easy-to-use web-based tech tool that students can use to create digital representations of the content that they are learning in their classes. This is great for presentations and for studying and identifying main ideas from the text/lecture.
As you know, we are all new to the flipped classroom model of instruction. I spent a large portion of the day explaining how the new course will operate and showing students where to find their assignments on Angel. However, when students tried to download their homework lecture, the audio in power-point does not work on their netbooks. I am currently working on fixing this tech glitch, and the lecture will be posted tomorrow for your students in the form of a podcast to accompany a power-point with notes. For the most part, your children reacted well and adapted very quickly.
Your student does have access to their first TIPS assignment on ANGEL. They were instructed to try to work on this with you tonight. If you have any problems, please e-mail me and I would be happy to assist with the process. The TIPS Assignment is due next Monday in the dropbox on Angel.
Also, I have posted an extra credit opportunity for the students to participate in. This is also due next Monday and is obviously optional.
